Aerial photos that sell your property: getting great drone stills

Video gets attention, but still photos do much of the everyday work. They're on your website, in your booking listings, on brochures and signs, and in every email and social post. A handful of great aerial stills can lift all of it.

What a drone still can show

  • The whole property in one frame. Sites, cabins, pool, amenities and surroundings, all at once.

  • Location. The beach, river, national park or town just beyond your boundary.

  • Layout. Where everything is, which is exactly what guests want to know before they book.

  • Scale. The space and greenery that ground-level photos can't capture.

What makes a great aerial photo

  • Light. Golden hour, just after sunrise or before sunset, gives warmth and depth. Overcast days suit even, detailed shots.

  • Height and angle. A low, angled shot feels inviting and shows features clearly. A straight-down shot creates striking patterns and works well for maps.

  • Composition. Lead the eye to your best feature, keep horizons level, and leave space for text if the image will be used in ads.

  • Preparation. Tidy sites, open umbrellas, pool clean and cars moved out of key areas.

  • Editing. Colour correction and careful retouching make the difference between a snapshot and a hero image.

Plan a shot list

Before the shoot, list where each image will be used: homepage, booking listings, brochure cover, park map, social posts. Then plan the shots to match, including both landscape and portrait versions, so you have the right image for every place it's needed.

Photos that last

A good set of aerial stills can serve your marketing for years. Refresh them when something changes, such as new glamping tents, a new pool or a renovation, and keep the rest working.
