LED screens for venues: promotions, beer gardens and street frontage

LED screens have become one of the most useful pieces of technology a venue can install. They're bright enough for daylight, they can be built to almost any size, and the content can change as often as you like.

Where venues use LED screens

  • Indoor video walls for sport, events and functions, without the bezels of tiled TVs

  • Promotions inside the venue, such as meal deals, upcoming events and member offers

  • Beer gardens and terraces, where normal TVs struggle in sunlight

  • Street frontage and entries, to show passers-by what's on tonight

Content that's easy to update

A good setup lets staff update content from a laptop, or schedule it ahead: lunch specials until 2pm, happy hour from 4pm, tonight's band from 6pm. The screen keeps working for you without anyone touching it.

What to think about before you buy

  • Viewing distance. How close people stand decides the pixel spacing you need. Closer viewers need finer screens.

  • Brightness. Outdoor and window-facing screens need much higher brightness than indoor ones.

  • Mounting and power. Large LED walls need proper structure, power and ventilation, planned with your electrician.

  • Council rules. External signage can need approval, especially facing a road.

Working with the rest of your AV

An LED screen works best as part of the venue's AV system, so it can show sport, promotions or a presentation from the same control as everything else.
